Me & My Guy SPRING DANCE
The Me and My Guy Spring Dance was originally planned as a domestic violence prevention effort, with the intention of promoting healthy father-daughter relationships. Statistics show that high levels of father involvement are correlated with sociability, confidence and high levels of self-control; which are all characteristics beneficial to one’s ability of making good choices for themselves in regards to future relationships. It has further been proven that children who have involved, positive, male role-models are less likely to act out in school or engage in risky behaviors as adolescents.
Over the years, the event has grown into the largest fundraiser for the Monroe STOPe program, provided by the Monroe County Health Council Prevention & Wellness Coalition. Ticket sales and a silent auction are two components of the dance that financially benefit the victim-only serving organization, in addition to flower sales and general donations collected while preparing and hosting the event itself. In years past, the event has been held at the First United Methodist Church in Sweetwater, TN and at The Eclectic Vibe Centre in Madisonville, TN.
"You are setting great standards for your little girl by treating her to this enchanted evening full of laughter and love, and it is an honor for the Monroe County Health Council to play a part in your doing so. Thank you for your interest in this event. We hope that should you attend, your special lady will forever remember and be impacted by the memories you make." --Heather Rhymes, Community Outreach Advocate for Monroe STOPe
