Why We Dance
The Monroe STOPe dance, originally the ‘Me and My Guy Dance’ is planned as a domestic violence prevention effort, with the intention of promoting healthy father-daughter relationships and educating our community on the importance of parental involvement in regards to healthy relationships. Statistics show that high levels of father involvement are correlated with sociability, confidence and high levels of self-control; which are all characteristics beneficial to one’s ability of making good choices for themselves in regards to future relationships. It has further been proven that children who have engaged, positive, male role-models are less likely to act out in school or engage in risky behaviors as adolescents.
Monroe STOPe and the Monroe County Health Council have provided this free opportunity for local girls and their Fatherly figures annually since 2015, with the exception of 2020 due to COVID-19.

Registration is required to attend the dance; limited tickets are available. Each couple/duo/group will only need ONE ticket. (The checkout process will prompt you to add each attendee’s names; up to 4 names per ticket can be entered. You do NOT need to purchase a ticket for each person attending.)
