A Healthier TN Community Initiative
The Monroe County Health Council Prevention & Wellness Coalition has partnered with the State of Tennessee, the Monroe County Health Department, the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce, Sweetwater Hospital Association, Monroe County Coordinated School Health, Sweetwater City Schools Coordinated School Health, the University of Tennessee Extension Office, as well as other individuals and businesses to have Monroe County, Tennessee designated by the Governor as a "Healthier Tennessee Community".
Our goals are to encourage more movement, healthier eating habits, and tobacco cessation for the citizens of Monroe County. One way we are doing so is by providing healthier food options, such as locally-grown fresh fruits and produce through a Farmers Market which will begin June 3rd, 2017.
The market will be held EVERY SATURDAY through October 28, 2017 in downtown Madisonville except for the following dates, in which the market will be held at Tsali Notch Vineyard: July 8th, August 12th, September 23rd, & October 14th.
